Brazos Valley Worldfest will include a first-time Salsa Challenge competition for 2011, underwritten by Village Foods. Judging will be for any type of tomato-based salsa and includes hot or cold (temperature), green or red, cooked or raw, as well as any level of spice.

The contest includes 2 categories:
Amateur
Professional

Amateur (Group or Individual) contestants submit 16 ounces of sauce for judging the day of the festival within the designated check in time frame. The entry fee is $25 and contestants are competing for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place cash prizes. All entries receive a Salsa Challenge Tshirt. Winners will be announced at the award ceremony taking place at 3:00 p.m. on the Community Stage.

Professional contestants also submit 16 ounces of sauce for judging the day of the festival within the designated check in time frame. Entry fee is $40 per salsa. You may submit more than one type of salsa from your business. Professional submissions also have the opportunity to compete in the People’s Choice competition. Participants are provided a table under a covered tent area that they may decorate as they see fit to represent their business, but make sure your name is prominently displayed. Attendees will purchase tickets to sample the salsas and are given one vote for their favorite. This is a great opportunity to promote your business in a very unique way! Winners will be announced at the award ceremony taking place at 3:00 p.m. on the Community Stage.

All entries must complete the Salsa Challenge Application and pay entry fee by October 28, 2011. Any questions can be directed to bvworldfestsalsa@gmail.com

Official Salsa Challenge tshirts will be for sale for $10 at Brazos Valley Worldfest.
